Program Description
The office supporters work in all parts of ancient times Greek and Latin writing, as well as history, theory, and workmanship and archaic exploration too. Fruitful candidates to the Program must have no less than three years of one old dialect (the dialects being Greek and Latin), and no less than two of the other. We have an in number, adjusted system in abstract, verifiable, social, and archeological studies, incorporating exceptional skill in narrative studies- - papyrology, palaeography, and epigraphy. Our specialty is a necessary piece of both Duke's Center for Late Ancient Studies and Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Assets for Classical Studies incorporate huge accumulations of antiquated Greek papyri and medieval Greek and Latin compositions, the Rostovtzeff-Welles library, and the Duke Immersive Environment and other virtual reality labs, and the Classical Collection of Greek and Roman Art in the Nasher Museum of Art. We take an interest in the projects of the American Academy in Rome and the American School in Athens; numerous understudies put in a year or a late spring at one or the other. Understudies in our project are capable, through course work, coordinated exploration, and their own particular educating, to plan for vocations of showing and research as extensively prepared established researchers.
Extra Application Materials
We energize a written work test and a rundown of the Greek and Latin writers/writings you have perused in the first dialects. These can be transferred specifically as Additional Materials when presenting the application. It ought to just be sent to graduate affirmations center@duke.edu if the candidate is not able to do as such.
